a bit about the label

Pink Hedgehog is a record label based in Weymouth, a seaside town in Dorset, on the "Jurassic" southern coast of England. Since 1994, our aim has always been to shine a light on some of the great music that is being made by the underground stars and unsung heroes of the truly independent pop scene. Run on a strictly "not for profit" basis for over 25 years now, we release music we love, made by artists we care about.  What began as a music fan releasing cassettes for his favourite local bands, has grown into a truly global family of song writers, musicians and friends; a family which also includes the many music lovers, writers and DJs who support us. We now have artists based on both sides of the Atlantic; from homegrown talent here in the UK's West Country, to Cambridge, Wales, London, Berlin and California.

We achieved our first chart success with Hamfatter's single 'Sziget (We Get Wrecked)' in 2007, reaching #54 in the official UK singles chart and #13 in the Indie singles chart.  Hamfatter then appeared on BBC's
Dragon's Den, securing investment from Peter Jones for their next album.  We also released the third album for ex-MCA/Arista artists Electrasy, called Wired For Dreaming, proving that "Music Without Industry" is the way forward! Our releases have featured in many of the UK's glossy music press including Q, Mojo, Uncut, Classic Rock, Shindig!, Record Collector, Rocksound, NME and The Word; as well as The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Sun and the LA Weekly.  But it's the alternative and underground scene that we call home, and the countless zines, bloggers and DJs that our biggest thanks go to for their support and enthusiasm over the years!
